From the Principal

Parents, Guardians, Staff, and Brennen Community,

Happy New Year. I hope all of you had a wonderful Winter Break.

In order to maximize service to Brennen families and to ensure the most efficient use of resources, we will be asking all parents and guardians to provide address documentation stating your legal domicile verification. A domicile is your PERMANENT LEGAL place of dwelling or where your child lies their head each night, which is different than residence.
Beginning with the 2015-16 school year and ANNUALLY thereafter, ALL parents and guardians will be REQUIRED to provide THREE (3) current proofs domicile verification. Examples of what can be used are:
"               ONE (1) from the following: Real estate purchase contract, mortgage statement, lease agreement, copy of payment stub. CAR TAX BILLS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
"               TWO (2) from the following: Utility bills with the SERVICE address to the domicile (cable, electric, water, or land-line phone bills) CELL PHONE BILLS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED

Please send nothing now. We will send out a notice later in the school year letting you know the days you can register students. The information required above will be brought with you then. If required information is not provided, your child or children will not be placed into a classroom.  Thank you for your attention and understanding as we work closely to maximize the resources for our students.

Our music teacher, Ms. Harriet Taylor, has retired to take care of her mom. Ms. Taylor has been an educator for over 30 years in Richland One and most of them have been at Brennen. She has taught many Bulldogs and their siblings.
We have hired a long term substitute to finish out the school year for Ms. Taylor. His name is Paul Lindley. He comes to Brennen after completing an internship at Brockman Elementary School. In addition, you can find Mr. Lindley working with the Columbia Children's Theater located inside the Richland Fashion Mall. Unfortunately at this time we will no longer have an afterschool chorus. Our chorus will continue again in the 2015-2016 school year. We apologize for any inconvenience that this brings.

Ms. Erica Mitchell, our part time guidance counselor, is on a leave of absence for continuing her educational commitments. Please welcome Mrs. Amanda Frisby as our part time guidance long term substitute. She comes to us having re-located from Charleston, SC where she most recently worked as a guidance counselor at Sedgefield Intermediate School.

Ms. Ebony Ayalingo, our media center assistant. will be going to complete her student teaching at Columbia High School. Please welcome Ms. Aria King as our media assistant long term substitute. She has a son in first grade and has most recently worked for us in music.
Again, please welcome our long term substitutes Paul Lindley, Aria King, and Amanda Frisby to our Bulldog family. At the same time we wish Ms. Harriet Taylor all the best as she starts a new chapter of her life.
I look forward to seeing you around campus. Thanks again and once again, Happy New Year.
